The historic Fillmore School in Georgetown will be renovated and transformed into an arts fellowship campus under a plan unveiled Tuesday by the nonprofit that acquired it last year.
The D.C.-based S&R Foundation bought the Fillmore, located at 1801 35th St. NW, from George Washington University in June 2015 for $16.5 million. The foundation proposes to transform the school into the Halcyon Arts Lab, where artists and fellows will pursue independent arts projects “with a social impact,” as well as mentor D.C. high school students.
Its plans were filed Tuesday with the D.C. Board of Zoning Adjustment.
