The S&R Washington Award recognizes talented emerging artists in all disciplines. The award is especially intended for emerging artists of great ability and potential who are looking towards the next stages in their creative development. 

The 2016 winners are: Grand Prize-winning composer Saad Haddad and Washington Award winners Maggie Finnegan (Soprano), Gilad Hochman (Composer), Karen Ouzounian (Cello) and Seeta Patel (Dance). Over the last 16 years, S&R Foundation has awarded over 50 artists from around the world. Winners are chosen by a selection committee of artists, curators, writers and leading arts professionals. S&R Foundation wishes to thank 2015/2016 committee members: Jenny Bilfield, Philip Kennicott, Klaus Ottmann, Jason Moran, Caitlin Teal Price, Michael Djupstrom, Diane Kanca, and Robert Dwyer.
